Marble Collection
Marble is a compact metamorphic rock formed from limestone rocks which, when subjected to high temperatures and pressures, reach a high degree of crystallisation. After an abrasive polishing process, the marble reaches a high level of natural shine, i.e. without waxes or chemical components.
The imitation marble tile due to its shiny appearance after polishing, its root comes from the Sanskrit word mar, which meant the movement of the waves of the water, and would have been used as a metaphor for the light incidences on the sea-sea surface, which signalled a stronger agitation of the waves. Marble was highly prized in antiquity and became the favourite material of Greek and Roman sculptors and architects, becoming a symbol of power. It is also a cultural symbol of tradition and refined taste. Marble was originally used in Archaic Greece for decorative sculptures, due to its rigidity and strength.
